Item Description
1-5/8” in white metal. Nice design of oval portraits with names above and flanking flags. Above an eagle holds ribbon “Freedom To All Men.” Below a shield reads “War For The Union.” Reverse text has “Republican Candidates 1864” surrounding text “For President Abraham Lincoln Of Illinois/For Vice President Andrew Johnson Of Tennessee.” Most original silver gilt flashing is off the front but vast majority remains on the reverse. Front has only a little smoothing of the raised areas of their hair. No significant scratches or nicks. A Fine example of a scarce and very popular medal, the largest Lincoln piece of the 1864 campaign.
