Item Description
Hake #3209. This big 3” celluloid from 1900 has a black cardboard reverse with a sticker naming maker “Peter P. Cappel, 21 Ann St., N.Y./R.L. Mfg. Co. Pat. June 5, ’99.” Label has tiny piece off upper right corner and black paper over the cardboard back has just a few flakes off the edges. The piece still retains its unusual double strand brass bar pin held in place by a pair of metal tabs. Front celluloid displays perfectly clean with exception of tiny upper left dot of silver beneath the celluloid as made. Celluloid surface is slightly impressed at both top and bottom but this is only noticeable to the touch and other than the one tiny dot as made this piece displays Mint. There are a couple of long but very light scratches showing only in reflected light and these are of little consequence. A beautiful and rare piece. Very scarce and this exact example exceeded $700 when we offered it back in Auction #205.
