Item Description
The 1.75” button has back paper from National Equipment Co. The button is Hake #3208 but this example has a tabbed on brass rope rim and spring pin holds 5” ribbon. The rope rim, with just a few tiny areas of darker luster, brings the button’s overall size to 2”. Spring pin suspends a rebus ribbon that reads “Our ‘Hat’ Is In The Ring.” The Hat is a fully three dimensional white metal replica of Roosevelt’s Rough Rider hat and it is held to the ribbon by the means of a small brass rivet at the top with a pair of tiny fold over brass prongs on the underside. In addition to being one of the very few rebus ribbons, this is also unusual in that the rebus is actually formed by a three dimensional symbolic object and not just a picture of something substituting for a word. The celluloid is NM displaying Mint and all else is Exc.
