Item Description
Group begins with Hake #3089. A 1.25” celluloid button on a thin leather backing which extends to a strap above. Celluloid has numerous shallow tiny pinpoint dots most of which catch reflected light and most of which do not create any visual discoloration. Piece displays Very Fine with full gloss. Some general wear on the leather strap. Second is unlisted in Hake. This is a 1-1/2” brass frame with raised rim holding a 15/16” real photo celluloid. Frame text reads “For President 1908 Washington, D.C.” Button text reads “For President Wm. H. Taft.” Brass luster is muted. Celluloid is totally clean. Rare. Last is a shield shaped die cut leather fob with mounted 7/8” Taft portrait button at center. Button forms a rebus so that inscription would read “Our Choice/Taft/For President.” Normally the gold rim on the celluloid button would be a brighter tone but in this case it is rather dark gold. There is no stain and the leather fob parts are NM with a very fine leather strap. Rare. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
