Item Description
Lot of five sheets of animation paper featuring original art for the 1936 animated Mickey Mouse short "Mickey's Circus." Four sheets measure 9.5x12" w/single 10x12" sheet. The four smaller sheets each features full body lead pencil work-in-progress animation sequence featuring Mickey climbing pole and walking or hanging from trapeze wire. This sequence was altered in the finished short, but can trace its origin back to this gag. Image areas measure between 3x5.5" to 4.25x5.5". One sheet features partial preliminary art for another Mickey figure. Sheets have even lt. aging and lt. scattered handling wear but art remains Exc. Sheets are two peg hole animation paper (which Disney stopped using in 1935), dating these to c. 1935. Larger sheet features 5-5/8x7.25" blocked square w/band image. This is a layout drawing from image that appeared at the very beginning of the cartoon. Sheet is lightly aged but art is Exc. Neat lot for a classic Mickey short.
