Item Description
6.25x9" textured paper-covered binder contains "Pennant Flying Corps" facsimile certificate bearing Feb. 16, 1935 date and two double-sided pages explaining "Membership In The Pennant Flying Corps." Issued by Pennant Extra Quality Syrup, who has ad imprint on back cover. This obscure aviation club featured World War I fighter ace Harvey Weir Cook as its "Commanding Officer" and certificate bears his facsimile signature. First page is letter from Weir Cook and back features his photo. Weir Cook (1892-1943) was a Distinguished Service Cross recipient and also a pioneer in civilian commercial aviation and a leading figure in the development of aviation in the US and in state of Indiana. Second page features aeronautical terms. Binder has original brass tabs holding pages in place. Binder cover has 2.5" corner crease and some pinch creases to spine but remains clean and VF overall w/Exc. pages. First we've seen in our 48 years.
