Item Description
Smaller 6-3/8" tall (9.25" to top of thick wire handle) tin litho container/pail w/lid. Made in Liverpool, England by E.T. Gee & Sons, mid-1920s. This company also produced a larger 8.25" tall Felix toffee container w/same images, but this smaller piece features just one band of tiny walking Felix figures at top and sides have two different Felix scenes. One is beach scene w/Felix family posing for photograph while other shows Felix riding horse through fence as angry boy chases them. Lid features same full body image of Felix w/this pail as was used on larger container. Exterior has scattered wear in the form of nicks/scratches. Rim and edges of lid show more moderate wear. Interior has luster loss and some scattered minor oxidation. Lid has 3/8" dent/line. Fine overall. Among the finest pails ever produced and one of the most desired, especially in this condition. We sold the larger version of this pail in our last auction for $3,542. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection, this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
