Item Description
Original illustrated open cardboard display box contains nice quality 1" wide by 34" long brown leather belt w/attached 1x1.5" brass belt buckle. Made by Pioneer (who also produced braces, garters and wallets), © Superman, Inc. c. early 1940s. Box features great image of leaping Superman (oddly depicted w/o his trademark blue tights, as if his legs are bare) on sides w/portrait image of Superman at bottom side panel. Box shows moderate wear w/creases and .5" and 1" tears to right side panel. VG. Box is very rare, and this is the first example we've offered in our 48 years. Belt has slightly raised designs repeated around entire surface alternating between classic image of Superman breaking chains and various images of him flying. Buckle has classic embossed image of Superman breaking chains w/"Superman" name. Unused w/original foil price band still in place around folded belt, noting original price of $1. This shows some wear but belt itself is Exc. Franco Toscanini Collection.
