Matched pair of 8.5x14" contract sheets issued to Carlisle Theatre in Carlisle, IA on Jan. 27, 1942. White sheet (Exhibitor's Copy) features pink full body image of Superman w/hands-on-hips as seen in opening credits of the 1941-1943 "Superman" cartoons. Typed contract notes "Exhibitor To Play Or Pay For If Available A Minimum Of One Subject Per Month Starting 2/1/42 - Exhibitor Has Privilege Of Cancelling This Contract After Playing The First Three Releases." Contract lists "Production Number - W1 - 1 To 12" as "Superman Cartoons (In Color)." Signed by theater representative and Paramount representative at bottom. Three horizontal folds and .5" pull at top left. VF. Pink sheet (Exhibitor's Application Sheet) has same information as previous sheet, only handwritten. Signed by theater representative at bottom. Three horizontal folds and vertical fold at center, w/two 5/8" tears. Scattered lt. edge wear. Fine. Very rare and exceptional items pertaining to this historic cartoon series from Fleischer Studios.
