Item Description
Original release 24x82" stiff paper banner for the 1951 film starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. The first theatrical feature film based on Superman, though two live-action Superman serial format films had already been shown in cinemas. Film served as a trial run for the "Adventures of Superman" TV series, becoming the two-part episode titled "The Unknown People." Silk-screened text w/film title, cast names and "Released By Lippert Pictures" text. Lower right corner has faint "National Screen Service" stamp. At left, banner has large 20.5x21" color photo image of Reeves as Superman w/Coates and smaller images of two "Mole Men" in foreground. Interestingly, The Superman suit Reeves wears has the red and blue colors reversed as to how they should appear. Poster has been rolled and as such, has some lt. scattered handling wear w/creases at left margin and lt. corner tip wear at upper right. VF. Photo image remains Exc. Rare and only the second we've offered in our 48 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
