Auction #216 - Part II
Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
14x17" thin artboard has mixed media original art filling entire surface showing detailed scene in which Superman apprehends bank robber, lifting vehicle above his head and holding ski-mask-wearing robber in the air by his jacket. Bank can be seen in bkg. as blind man's dog barks and woman in crowd points out robber to policeman. Art was created by Ernie Chan (1940-2012), a comic artist who worked in Filipino comics and got into American comics w/DC Comics in 1972. By 1974 he was working on Conan for Marvel, returning to DC exclusively in 1975-1976. He later returned to Marvel and focused on Conan in the 1980s. This art has been boldly signed by Chan left right of bottom center and dated "'08." Artboard has a few minor corner bumps, but if framed, art would display Exc. Wonderfully colorful and detailed. Franco Toscanini Collection.
