Item Description
10.75x16-1/8" thin artboard features artist Kevin Van Hook's pen and ink original art for page 27 of the June 1989 issue of "Marvel Comics Presents" #21, published by Marvel Comics. Art is for "The First Cut" storyline (w/original "Cut To The Quick" title penciled at top) w/art by Van Hook, best known for his work on Valiant Comics' "Bloodshot." He also wrote the "Flash Gordon" comic strip in the 1990s. Six-panel page features The Thing of the Fantastic Four approaching and entering condemned building in search of woman's genetically-modified ex-boyfriend. Thing is discovered by criminals who shoot at him until he tears chunk of wall out and throws it at them, causing them to run away in fear. The ex-boyfriend appears in the fifth panel, announcing himself as "The Ripper" in last panel. Thing appears in four of the six panels. Page has been inked by David and Dan Day. Bottom margin has been signed in black ink by both Days and Van Hook. Top margin has production notations w/taped page number at bottom center. Upper margin has been trimmed, though not affecting art, which remains Exc.
