Largest opening measures 8.25x9.75" and features vintage artboard w/preliminary pencil original art by Superman co-creator Joe Shuster (1914-1992). Art shows Superman partially standing behind large drum w/hand-lettered "Seasons Greetings 1945" pencil text. Superman holds a mallet-style drumstick in his raised hand as he looks over his shoulder towards baby running towards him w/"1945" sash trailing behind him. Superman's word bubble has hand-lettered pencil text reading "Hurry Up! We're Waiting For You!" Two clowns and Santa Claus can be seen peering over edge of drum beside Superman. Shuster has signed his name in pencil at lower left. Art comes w/letter from renowned collectibles expert, historian and author Harry Matetsky, author of "The Adventures Of Superman Collecting," an invaluable reference for Superman collectibles and their history. Letter reads "This Original 1945 Christmas Card Was Acquired From The Creator Of Superman, Joe Shuster, By Longtime Collector Gary Coddington In The 1970s. Very Few Vintage Pure Shuster Superman Pieces Are Known To Exist And They Are Highly Regarded By All Knowledgeable Collectors Of Original Comic Art.
