Item Description
Vintage 8x10" publicity photo shows Ellington seated behind piano, his name printed at lower left. Photo has been boldly inscribed in pencil "To Bob - Good Luck - Duke Ellington." Reverse has been signed in pencil by Ellington's mid-1940s band line-up, including - Rex Stevens (cornet), Joya Sherrill (who adds "Good Luck Always - Vocalist" inscription), Johnny Hodges (alto saxophone), Sonny Greer (drums), Harry Carney (baritone saxophone), Claude Jones (who adds "Trombone"), Lawrence Brown (trombone), Shelton Hemphill (trumpet), Otto Hardwick (alto saxophone) and Jimmy Hamilton (who adds "Clar." clarinet notation). Photo has some scattered handling wear and lt. even aging. Fine/VF. Ellington's signature remains distinct while signatures on back are all legible. Rare collection of signatures all on one item. As a bonus, photo comes w/1950s "Duke Ellington And His Famous Orchestra" program, which has some handling wear and just comes along. Comes with Hake's COA and Roger Epperson/REAL LOA.
