Auction #216 - Part II
Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box w/"A Flashing - Roaring - Speeding Model Of Buck Rogers Famous Inter-Planetary Rocket Cruiser" text contains very attractively designed 12" long tin litho rocketship w/built-in key. Marx, 1934. Box features printed text directions on one inner flap w/opposite flap having toy diagram. Box is complete and evenly aged w/some dust soiling and creasing by end flap, but box has had no repairs and remains structurally sound w/strong color. Fine/VF. Also comes w/illustrated envelope containing flint holder/flint. Envelope is worn w/numerous creases and .5" and 1" tear. VG. Rare. Toy features detailed images of Buck, Wilma Deering and Dr. Huer in cockpit windows. Complete w/original flint holder (though flint is missing, easily replaced) and separate fin flint cover which is often missing. Underside of the nose cone has full figure Buck Rogers logo image. Toy works exceptionally well and travels forward as pinging sound is made. Evenly aged w/small scattered traces of wear in the form of small nicks/scratches. Fine overall. Wonderful graphics on both box and toy. Don Maris Collection.
