Auction #216 - Part II
Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
19x21.5" sheet of heavy art paper has mixed media original art by Arnold Roth, noted for his humor work for Harvey Kurtzman's "Trump, Humbug" and "Help" and his numerous covers for "TV Guide" and "Esquire" as well as cartoons for "Playboy, Punch, The National Lampoon" and "The New Yorker," winning numerous awards over the years. Extremely detailed art depicts tyrannical boardroom executive smashing his fist down onto his desk, scattering its contents and bowling over people in his presence, their feet seen sticking up into the air. Three colleagues look on in terror from upper left and "Our Founder" painting behind executive's chair has a worried look upon his face. Obviously a published piece but we are unsure of which publication. c. 1980s. Small handwritten caption at bottom center reads "'This Company Will Be Less Authoritarian!'" Caption text has spot of smudging from moisture droplet and lower right margin has some faint moisture staining/rippling, though not affecting art, which remains clean. Would make for Exc. display if matted and framed.
