Item Description
First is DeWitt 1864-4. This is 1-5/16” white metal. The slogan below the portrait reads “Honest Old Abe” but this has some rub marks and the lettering is difficult to read. Top edge has somewhat irregular rim hole. Also some small rubs on the lower half of the reverse which names both Lincoln and Johnson. Next is DeWitt 1864-10. This is 1-3/16” in brass. The front has his name, portrait and date while reverse has military design with letters “US” at the center. Slight smoothing of the details but Fine. The third item is DeWitt 1864-21. This is 1-1/16” white metal. Front has his portrait, name and date while reverse shows Washington with clouds below and surrounded by flags plus the slogan “The Union Must And Shall Be Preserved.” Small rim hole at top as issued and with about 90% original luster. Next is a large piece, probably c. his 1909 centennial. Reverse is a sheet of brass with a wire loop and the piece may have served as a large clothing button. The front of the piece is a thin sheet of tin with very large embossed portrait and with the metal finished in black. No text. Last is a .5” piece from the 1900s showing Lincoln’s portrait within a wreath and with the number “15” below probably serving as a service award for some industry, perhaps Lincoln Insurance. Back of this is marked “1-10 10K.” Mint. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
