Item Description
5-5/8x17.25" piece of thin artboard features pen and ink original art by primary "Big Ben Bolt" artist John Cullen Murphy. For Sept. 9, 1958 daily strip, which featured three panels. First panel features training boxer in the ring. Second panel features large screentone shading accent and shows boxer about to strike Ben in the face. Third panel shows Ben landing blow to other man's jaw. Last panel has KFS copyright strip paste-over. Crane has also signed and dated this panel. First panel has removed text w/pasted panel in place. Scattered age staining. Pinholes/staple holes at left/right margins. Fine/VF.
