Item Description
Each of these rare 1.75” buttons is the first we’ve been able to offer. They refer to the famous home-run dual of 1961. The Maris button has numerous although light scuff lines around the outer circumference with a few more inward but none over his face. These marks barely show unless caught in angled light. The button still displays extremely bright and clean and with full gloss. The Mantle button has a surface just a hair concave as made. It is NM displaying Mint. This historic race for a home-run total ended in September when Mantle suffered an injury but Maris continued hitting home-runs and hit the record-breaking 61st on October 1, 1961. Only a few examples known of each button.
