Item Description
9.5x12" and 10x12" sheets of animation paper features preliminary pencil original art for gag concepts for cartoon that was released March 16, 1935 and directed by Ben Sharpsteen. Both sheets feature scene where Mickey Mouse tries to fix a flat tire. First sheet has 3.25x4.25" image area w/Mickey trying to pry tire off wheel rim. This sequence was used in the short. Second sheet features 3.5x4.25" image area w/Mickey tripping on wheel rim, rim smacking him in jaw. This sequence was not featured in the finished short. Sheet also features rough pencil image of this scene and unrelated early image of smiling Dwarf. In the finished cartoon Mickey wore a service station attendant's uniform as opposed to his typical shorts seen here. First sheet has .25" puncture at lower left, not affecting art, which remains Exc. Second sheet has some corner tip wear w/creasing, but art remains clean and Exc.
