Item Description
1" with "The Irwin-Hodson Company" backpaper from "Portland Oregon". World War II era button likely connected to Vanport housing project. Portland became one of the most racially segregated cities in the Northwest during the 1940's as African Americans migrated to work jobs in the shipyards. The influx created a housing shortage which was met with a hastily constructed project, Vanport. Button has a dark cream background with only faint surface wear seen in reflected light. Exc. displaying Mint. Rare.
