Item Description
17.75x32.25" frame contains pen and ink original art for March 26, 1944 Sunday page w/art by "Brenda Starr, Reporter" creator Dale Messick. Debuting in 1940, this is a nice early example w/11 panels (including title panel) and story has Brenda racing to shipyard in police car in attempt to stop five ships about to be launched from being sabotaged by villain The Dentist, who appears in one panel. Page ends on a cliff-hanger, we are unsure is Brenda is in time or not, last panel revealing her in tears. Brenda appears in four panels. First panel has hand-lettered title, not the typically-seen paste-over and has been signed below by Messick. Three printer centering labels present. Eighth panel has The Chicago Tribune copyright paste-over strip. Exc. and ready for display as professionally matted and framed.
