Item Description
Lot of three, including two pieces of daily strip original art from 1958 by Vernon Greene and later daily strip from 1980 featuring almost total stat reuse of earlier art w/just text replaced. 1958 strips include Sept. 28 Sunday page on 14x21.75" thin artboard w/12 panels (not including title panel, which has moderately aged title paste-over). Story features Maggie telling Jiggs that her mother is coming to stay for a month, which causes Jiggs to go to park and pick flowers he distinctly heard police officer tell a woman not to pick and then picks a fight w/said cop, getting him arrested and sent to jail for a month. Ninth panel has KFS copyright strip paste-over. Top margin has two editorial stamps and margins have some scattered editorial notes. Pinholes/staple holes at corners, but art remains clean and Exc. Oct. 22 daily strip is on 6.5x19.75" thin artboard and features three panels, showing Maggie's brother smoking cigars in Jiggs' chair. Jiggs tricks him into getting out of chair and settles in for a smoke. Maggie comes in and hits Jiggs over the head for tossing his cigars stubs all over the floor when in fact it was her brother. Last panel has some screentone shading accents to stars about Jiggs' head. These and screentone on brother-in-law's pants have aged. Pinholes/staple holes at corners, but art remains clean and Exc. 1980 strip just comes along.
