Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
Two pieces of thin artboard, title topper strip on 4-5/8x20.25" artboard w/title paste-over and pen and ink original art for Feb. 9, 1958 Sunday page showing Mutt berate Mrs. Mutt for breaking car's headlight. Trademark and The Bell Syndicate, Inc. copyright strip paste-overs as well as mostly blank paste-over under title. Right margin has some glue staining, not affecting art, which remains Exc. 14-1/8x23" artboard features rest of strip, comprised of nine panels w/Mutt attempting to instruct Mrs. Mutt on how to drive a car, doing a poor job of it. It starts to snow and they eventually slide out onto frozen pond where Mrs. Mutt turns the table and yells at Mutt. Second to last panel has trademark and partial copyright strip paste-overs. Last panel has been signed by longtime "Mutt And Jeff" artist Al Smith. Margins show wear w/pinholes/staple holes at corners and streak of glue staining at left/right margins, not affecting art, which remains clean and Exc.
