15.75x21.75" Sunday newspaper 12 page comic section for the "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" dated Sept. 10, 1939. Section includes full page advertisement for "4 New Adventure Strips" debuting in the daily edition of the newspaper, including - "Buck Rogers, Mandrake The Magician, Brick Bradford" and "Superman" w/full body image of characters. Ad notes "See These Four New Story Strips - Plus Your Old Favorites In The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Beginning Tomorrow." Promotional text for "Superman" reads in part "Born On Another Planet, Shot To Earth By A Cataclysm Of Nature, Faster Than An Airplane, Stronger Than Ten Giants, Superman Will Stir Your Imagination With His Astounding Deeds." Other comic strips of note in this section include - "Popeye, Li'l Abner, Blondie, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon" and others. Newsprint has moderate aging and spine has large split to several pages. VG overall, though pages themselves remain nice for display. Advertisement page would display VF if framed. Early Superman advertisement. Rare and historic. Franco Toscanini Collection.
