Item Description
This is Radio Orphan Annie’s most ingenious and scarce ring issued by Quaker cereals very briefly during their final year of program sponsorship in 1942. This is one of about 13 examples known to us and condition is VF with clean brass surfaces and areas with original luster intact. The ring is all brass with adjustable bands. A “Pursuit Plane” is pictured on one side and a “Bombing Plane” on the opposite. Ring top has small rivet holding three individual moveable brass plates. Each plate has a small hole of graduated sizes and the concept is to hold the ring to the sky to look at an airplane. If the image fits within one of these holes then the plane is at an altitude designated on that piece of brass with the three denominations of 2500’, 5000’ or 10000’. Ring has all over nice golden brass tone and the ring bands have never been distorted. Robert Overstreet Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA.
