Item Description
1” wide by 7” long hard plastic link bracelet issued as “Betty’s Luminous Gardenia Bracelet” by Wheaties for only two weeks in 1941. Betty Fairfield was Jack’s cousin on the program. The bracelet consists of five figural high relief plastic flowers representing Gardenias mounted on green leaf segments. The fifth segment has a die-cut clip that attaches to a loop on the opposing end. While the piece displays Mint and does glow very nicely in the dark one of the plastic coupling segments between two of the flowers has come loose from one of the two ends that join it. The other prong remains intact and there should be no further damage unless stress would be somehow applied to the remaining thin but intact coupling. Bracelet is on a circular piece of cardboard with extensive instructions on the interior on how to “Charge” the gardenia buds and warning against over exposure to sunlight. Item comes in its 3.5” square by 1.5” deep original mailing box with a gardenia pictured on the “General Mills, Inc.” mailing label. Small wear on the two edges where the box was opened but otherwise in Exc. condition. Among the rarest Jack Armstrong premiums and we’ve seen only three examples with this being the only example in complete condition. A rarity.
