Large 20.75x26" ornate frame contain pen and ink (w/lead pencil shading) original art for the cover to the Aug., 2008 comic book released by Image Comics featuring the art of Mark Wheatley, an illustrator, writer, editor and publisher in the comic book field. Wheatley's comic book/pulp creations include "Breathtaker, Mars" and "Blood Of The Innocent," all illustrated by his frequent collaborator Marc Hempel. Art has been professionally and attractively triple-matted (w/complimentary color suede mattes) to 11.5x16.5" and features initial pen and ink original artwork for the cover to the crossover book that featured both Frankenstein Mobster and the iconic sexy vampire Vampirella. Art shows Vampirella swinging spike flail at gangsters while Frankenstein Mobster fires tommy gun into the air as demon and werewolf approach. Bats fly in the night sky towards title area, which remains blank. The final cover art featured full color (though done in muted colors in keeping w/the aesthetic of the "Frankenstein Mobster" comic series w/smoke/fog added and text added to wrecked police car Vampirella stands on. Wheatley has signed and dated art at lower left.
