11” X 14” lobby card for the 1947 re-release of the 1931 Universal horror film starring Bela Lugosi. Card is printed in a dark green tone and features marquee at bottom with nice image of Lugosi advancing with hand out stretched. This image is repeated in main image of card, but has been reversed as Lugosi advances towards Lucy placed by Frances Dade. There is a printing flaw on lamp base. Lugosi has signed in blue ink “To Bill Best Wishes Bela Lugosi” on white sheet area of bed. “Bill” and part of the “g” in Lugosi as well as “osi” have slightly faded but are still legible. Card has heavy wear with a ½” chip out of the right hand side mid-margin and two areas chipping, one at upper right hand corner and one by lower right hand corner, each associated with pin-holes. Card has several creases and tape residue at each corner. Moderate aging. ½” tear at chip on mid-right. These defects do not overly detract from main image of card which is VG with a FN signature/inscription. Comes with letter of authenticity from Hake’s Americana.
