Item Description
With full names on the ferrotype itself are Douglas/Johnson, Bell/Everett and Breckenridge/Lane. This trio of 1" (25mm) ferrotypes are all unlisted in DeWitt and Hake. Each is distinguished by a white glass circle surrounding each image - the first we've seen of this beautiful style. Rim hole on each with two original small ribbons, the red one frayed at center but still intact. Of the six glass circles, the following have a minute hairline, all essentially invisible unless viewed with magnification: Douglas (5), Johnson (1), Everett (1), Lane (2). The Lane ferro has hairline of glue around its perimeter but again only barely visible without magnification. The Douglas has essentially Mint images, the Bell has dot rub on his shirt barely showing and the Everett is Mint. Breckenridge is somewhat dark but totally clear with just a tiny pinpoint dot off his hair. Lane is quite dark but still visible with Mint emulsion surface. Beautiful, bright, N. Mint to Mint luster on the rims of all 3. Overall, a trio of gorgeous unlisted ferrotype rarities.
