Item Description
Large original frame has 2" long fairly heavy rubs but all else is Mint. Large sepia toned photo with 1916 copyright and simulated border. Signed "To My Friend Leroy Vernon - John W. Weeks." Has faint embossed logo of Champlain Studio, NY/Boston. The ink on his last name is bit lighter than rest of inscription. Small splits on backpaper. Photo is Mint. Comes with 1921 "War Department" letter to Leroy Vernon regarding purchase of land in Spottsylvania Civil War battlefield area. Letter is signed by Weeks. Tiny left edge wear. From the collection of Leroy T. Vernon, a campaign manager for Taft and later Washington D.C. reporter for the Chicago Daily News. Comes with Hake's COA.
