Item Description
Lot of 4 measuring between 11x13.75" and 13.5x16.75". All done in pen & ink. c. 1930s, during Brown's tenure at the New York Herald Tribune. First piece has man selling "The Best Mousetraps In The World! Depression Prices," with several signs stating such and piles of mousetraps. Piece has ink wash highlights. Second piece deals with Japan not being able to get on "League Of Nations Ferry" due to "No Baggage" sign. Japanese officer carrying large packaged "Manchukuo-Spoils Of War Packaging Co." Manchukuo was a small country in Manchuria that was founded by the Empire of Japan in 1932 and lasted until 1945. Third piece has "Tax Paying Voter" slaying dragon with price tag reading "$30.00 Every Thursday 'Ism." Voter is standing on land labeled "California." Forth piece features woman labeled "U.S. Business" carrying large bell and pulling wagon stacked with "Low Priced Bargains" and filled with meats to doghouse marked "U.S. Banks" occupied by "Idle Money" sleeping dog. Light general wear and aging overall, Fine/VF. See items #1553-1554.
