Item Description
5-5/8x9". Hand written from Blanche Kelso Bruce a contemporary of Frederick Douglass and the second African American elected to the US Senate after the Civil War. Born into slavery, Bruce eventually became a wealthy land owner in Mississippi and is the first African American and only former slave to preside over the Senate. Letter is written to "Mr. Larner" and thanks him for his kindness during a visit to St. Paul, MN. Boldly signed at conclusion "B. K. Bruce". Two light horizontal folds and a tiny 1/8" light brown mark slightly below the very center. Exc. displaying Mint. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
