Item Description
The first ring was issued for Buck Rogers in 1946 by Post's Corn Toasties. This, and the other two, are made of luminous plastic. This one glows brightly in the dark after exposure while the following two glow but not as intensely. The side bands are designed as full figure crocodiles with wide open jaws while on the ring top there is a raised red oval plastic stone. An essentially Mint example. Next is the famous 1941 "The Shadow/Blue Coal" classic ring. The bands are in the shape of his body with him wearing a cloak, mask and hat and holding a gun. Top has irregularly shaped blue plastic piece representing the sponsor's coal product. This ring has tanned slightly on one side with the stone still having full color while on the opposite side the tanning is a deeper tone and the blue has faded from the stone. Still good. The last ring is a strange combination featuring the alligator bands, the same as those on the Buck Rogers and earlier Jack Armstrong Dragon's Eye ring; however, on the top is the blue plastic figural coal piece that came on the Shadow ring. This piece appears to have been here for years and there is no trace of excess glue. One side of the ring base is formed as it should be while on the opposite side at the top, above the hole for the finger, the plastic material melted a bit with a 1/16"x.25" long excess line of raised plastic which has a little grey color on its surface. A curiosity at least. The main part of this lot is the gorgeous Buck Rogers Saturn ring.
