Item Description
First is a 1968 1" coattail button featuring Eugene McCarthy and anti-Vietnam war activist Allard Lowenstein. Lowenstein is known for having started the 'Dump Johnson' movement in 1967. He served in Congress representing New York's 5th District from 1969 to 1971 . Second is a 1.25" button for James Weinstein's Independent Socialist candidacy for the 19th District of New York in 1966. In addition to Weinstein's anti-war activism he was once caught up in the Rosenberg spy ring after doing a favor for a friend led him to provide a ride for Julius Rosenberg in 1949.
