Item Description
1" tall in silvered brass. This is a very rare and very interesting piece. Pictured full figure in the presidential chair is William McKinley while beneath the legs of the chair is a full figure of the then president Grover Cleveland. Two panels at the bottom of the piece read "McKinley 1896." This piece was issued by a maker who anticipated the nomination of William McKinley at the Republican National Convention held June 16 to June 18, 1896. The reverse bottom of this piece has the clear inscription "Pat. Dec. 10/1895." Rare and Mint. Only the second we've seen. Most likely this is the earliest pro-McKinley item issued for the 1896 presidential campaign.
