Item Description
18-7/8x23" Crescent art board has been matted to 12.5x16.5" w/image area painted in tempera and signed in pencil by Jack Thurston at lower right. Thurston produced many illustrations over his career, including the iconic poster art of Raquel Welch for 1966's "One Million B.C." Art was created for the 1966 sci-fi horror film Gold Star Productions/Seven Arts Productions film "The Frozen Dead." Released by Warner Bros., the film was directed by Herbert Leder, who also wrote, directed and produced "It!" (see item #2357). First released in Great Britain w/US release in 1967, as a double bill w/"It!" This art was used on the press book & herald for the double bill. The film centered around a Nazi scientist's plans to revive a number of frozen Nazi leaders. Art features striking image of man's upper body in large block of ice, one hand and forearm emerging from ice. Border of board has aged tape around entirety as once used to secure mat. Mat has since come partially loose (w/some spots of staining at lower right) and could be easily re-matted for display. Art is extremely well done and displays bright and Exc.
