8.5x11" spiral bound softcover book for "29th Annual Dinner Of The Indiana Society Of Chicago" honoring cartoonist John T. McCutcheon held Dec. 14, 1940 at the Stevens Hotel in Chicago, IL. Front cover feature art of McCutcheon standing at center w/numerous cartoonists applauding him w/"Greatest Show On Earth" text above his head. Book contains 44 pages w/wonderful full page specialty art by numerous cartoonists including - Milton Caniff, Chester Gould, H.T. Webster, Harold Gray, George McManus, Rube Goldberg, Rollin Kirby, Frank King, Frank Willard, Rudolph Dirks, James Montgomery Flagg and many others. Title page has been signed in black ink by McCutheon, who has added "To O. Andreas Garson With The Best Good Wishes" inscription w/arrow pointing to title and "Dec. 30, 1943" date added. Evenly aged w/some scattered handling wear and lt. dust soiling. Front cover has .5" tear at center right. Some scattered glue staining to inside front cover, which has vertical crease just off center. Fine/VF. Book/program had extremely limited distribution, likely not more than 100 or so printed. Wonderful graphics by top cartoonists of the day.
