Item Description
Nickel-plated cast iron 1-1/8x2.75" tall fully three-dimensional figural head of Uncle Sam wearing his famous stars and stripes top hat, the top of his hat formed as a separate piece capable of sliding up/down. Cap is inserted between hat and then when thrown down, the hat pieces meet, causing cap to explode. Center rod (attached to head) has cast loop at top so that it can be attached to a cord for throwing purposes. Top of hat separates from main piece. Maker is unknown, c. 1890s. Bottom to top hat piece has oxidation to underside as does center rod, but this is not that noticeable when pieces are in place, and cap bomb is VF overall. Scarcer issue.
