Item Description
14x22.25" thin cardboard window card for Sept. 9, 1961 concert featuring Ray Charles that took place at the Russ Auditorium in San Diego, CA. Concert was "A Salute To Genius!" and featured "The Most Creative Musical Giant Of This Generation" w/photo of Charles at piano and photo image of back-up vocal trio The Singing Raelets (card also mentions Betty Carter). Card advertises Charles would be "Playing His Hit Records In Person!" and goes on to list "Georgia, What'd I Say, Ruby, One Mint Julep, Hard Hearted Hannah" and "The Genius Of Ray Charles" song titles. Of note, card states that musical arrangements were arranged by Quincy Jones and Ralph Burns. Window card was printed by Colby Poster Printing Co. of Los Angeles, CA. Pin holes at corners and along margins w/several pin holes at top center, one w/.25" pull. Bottom right has 1" surface paper break w/3.25" strip of clear tape. "Russ" name at top marquee has streak of residue from posting and lower portion of card (between "Ray Charles" name and "Playing His Hit Records" text) has some horizontal surface rubs. 1.5x1.75" area of scattered surface paper lift at center right margin (at end on Charles' name). Still displays Fine overall.
