Bryant look on. In 1978 Felt along with Edward Miller and Acting FBI Director L. Patrick Gray, were indicted for approving illegal wiretaps, mail interception and 'black bag job' break-ins targeting members of the militant left-wing radical group the Weather Underground. Felt was convicted of violating the civil rights of group members on Nov. 6, 1980. He was pardoned by President Reagan and many years later was revealed to be "Deep Throat", the mysterious government informant who fed information that eventually forced President Nixon to resign to Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
