Item Description
Each color sketch is 17.5x23" on heavy tan paper. Included are: Hinkley in full courtroom scene; a visitor seated outside Hinkley's large jail cell as he is sitting on a couch reading a magazine with a guitar to his left; Hinkley in court with his parents; Judge Barrington Parker; prosecutions expert witness Dr. Park Dietz testifying as Hinkley looks on and a three quarters length portrait of Hinkley during the trial. Hinkley attempted to assassinate President Reagan outside the Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. on March 30, 1981. Though he was charged with 13 offenses he was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Each sketch has minor handling wear and all are NM displaying Mint. As cameras were not allowed during the trial these images are among the only visual records of the events. See Lot #152 for artist biography.
