Item Description
14.25x20-3/8" cardboard standee w/easel back. Issued by Capitol Records in 1964 for record stores, this was the first cardboard promotional display made by Capitol to promote The Beatles. Display features full body dot pattern photo image of The Beatles above large "Meet The Beatles!" album name. Full text reads "Britain's 'Beatlemania' Has Spread To America! On TV: Jack Paar Show (NBC-TV)! Ed Sullivan Show (CBS-TV)! Walter Cronkite News (CBS-TV)! Huntley-Brinkley News (NBC-TV)! Featured In Time, Life, Newsweek & Newspapers Everywhere! Now Hear The Performances That Have Made The Beatles The Most Exciting Vocal Group In English History!" Lower right side of standee has small printed image of the actual album cover as well as cover to "First Capitol Single: I Want To Hold Your Hand B/W I Saw Her Standing There" and "First Capitol Album: Meet The Beatles!" text. The front was professionally cleaned and there are some lt. surface marks as such, none too distracting. Standee has had moderate restoration throughout and has 7/8" thin scratch across single cover image. Original easel back has had clear tape reinforcements added. Front displays Fine overall. Very desirable and very rare Beatles promotional piece and the first we've offered in our 49 years.
