Item Description
Large 21-7/8x30" thick artboard has original mixed media art for front/back covers and inside cover for Whitman #1953 paperdoll book published in 1964. Book featured Disney's former Mickey Mouse Club star Annette Funicello in her twenties, when she had begun doing a series of beach movies. Interior cover art is upside down at top, showing curtained area for displaying Annette doll w/various outfits as well as beach scene w/various studio lights. Below this is full body image of Annette w/surfboard as seen on front cover and young surfers beach scene as seen on back cover. Art comes w/acetate overlay which has book title on front, but "Annette" name is missing half of its lettering. This has production notations at bottom and artboard has pin holes along margins and shows scattered edge/corner tip wear. Fine overall, but art displays Exc. Unique and impressive.
