Item Description
24.25x32" metal frame contains original 20.5x28" poster that has been matted to 19x26.75". In the 1920s there were a series of musicals based on the comic strip "Bringing Up Father" featuring Maggie and Jiggs. "Bringing Up Father" was the only production to play on Broadway, while "Bringing Up Father In Florida, Bringing Up Father In Ireland, Bringing Up Father On Broadway" and "Bringing Up Father On The Seashore" were traveling productions. Printed by National Printing & Eng. Co. of Chicago/New York, this is for early 1920s production of "Bringing Up Father In Florida." Top of poster reads "George McManus' Cartoon Musical Comedy - Bringing Up Father In Florida" w/image of Jiggs and young woman in rollercoaster car. Word balloon above Nora reads "Why - Mr. Jiggs - You Act Like A Little Boy" to which Jiggs replies "By Golly - I Feel Like A Little Boy." Amusement park can be seen in bkg. The "In Florida" text at top is a paste-over. Linen-mounted and has some margin wear/aging, but as matted, this is no longer visible. Some scattered professional restoration, mostly color touch-ups along thin black border. The "In Florida" paste-over has some scattered age spotting and has 5/8" area of restoration between the L and O in "Florida." Poster retains deep rich colors and displays VF. Rare.
