Original 8x10" glossy silver gelatin photo shows full team in their respective Negro League team uniforms posed on a ball field w/spectators in the stadium seats in the bkg. Reverse has photographers ink stamp "Ernest C. Withers/Memphis, Tennessee." Standing in the back row are: Lester Lockett, Monte Irvin (HOF), Rufus Lewis, Henry Miller, Luke Easter, Robert Griffith, Pat Scantlebury, Wilmer Fields, Bill Cash, Vic Harris and manager Jose Fernandez. Front row are: Buck Leonard (HOF), Bob Harvey, Marvin Barker, Frank Austin, Pee Wee Buts, Minnie Minoso, Luis Marquez, Louis Louden, Bob Romby, Junior Gilliam. Teams represented include: Homestead Grays, Newark Eagles, NY Black Yankees, New York Cubans, Philadelphia Stars, Baltimore Elite Giants. This is from the Buck Leonard estate and he has annotated it in ink (and comes w/JSA LOA verifying this), printing the last name of all, either directly above or below their image, including himself. Some names are more visible than others and none of the images are affected in any way. Buck also wrote across the bottom "East-1948" as well as noting the score "West-3 East-0." Tack hole at each corner. Moderate handling wear mostly only visible in reflected light. Still glossy w/bold and sharp images. An exceptional photo greatly enhanced by the personalized writing from the HOF legend. A one of a kind photo as annotated by this HOF legend.
