Item Description
5.25" long cast metal paperweight depicting the body of a tiger w/Jack Dempsey's head. "Jack Dempsey - Fight & Win - Tiger Of The Roped Arena" raised text around base. 1920s. Front of base has 1" long mold line and paperweight's patina finish has some small scattered flakes. Fine. Unusual Dempsey item and first we've offered in our 49 years. Comes w/3x4.25" aluminum tray w/high relief brass plate insert featuring portrait of boxer Georges Carpentier. Produced in France, French text notes July 2, 1921 Heavyweight Championship fight in Jersey City, NJ that he lost to Dempsey. Scattered aging and some spotting to brass insert. Fine/VF.
