Item Description
3-1/8x3-3/8" spring-latch silver plate hinged lid case has inset hand-painted enamel panel featuring full body portrait of Luis Angel Firpo (1894-1960), who began his boxing career in 1917 and became the first Latin American in history to challenge a heavyweight for the title. He fought Jack Dempsey on Sept. 14, 1923, a fight that is regarded as one of the greatest boxing matches in history. Firpo's name appears at bottom w/Spanish text at top that translates to "The Hero Of Puno." Hallmark on interior of case. Scattered lt. wear but VF overall.
