Item Description
Large and impressive museum grade ornate frame measuring 30x36" contains supplemental print measuring 16.25x23" that was offered in the May 19, 1894 issue of London's "Police Gazette" weekly newspaper. Corbett and Jackson fought 30 rounds to no contest in their May 21, 1891 bout at the California Athletic Club in San Francisco, CA. Corbett would go to win the title from John L. Sullivan the following year. This print was created by Richard K. Fox to promote the re-match. Inserts of each fighter's manager appears at opposite corners. Print has two vertical creases and 1.25" horizontal fold at top center. 2.75" tear at Jackson's name at bottom. Aged tape a top right corner and both bottom corners, though this is not visible as professionally matted. Right margin ha small tear and top left has .5x1.5" surface paper lift. 1" surface tear below William A. Brady portrait. Tiny sliver off lower right. Fine overall but still very nice for display as professionally matted and framed under Plexiglas and an impressive display as such.
