Item Description
Twelve buttons in sizes from .75" to 2.25" plus one brass figural football carrying the letters "UD" and accented by a pair of slightly dusty ribbons. This piece appears to be 1930s. Group begins with 1906 button referencing Minnesota. Very slightest hint of some grey tone along the bottom edge but still displaying cleanly. Next button from 1917 has piece of celluloid missing from the 10-11 o'clock area and going inward about .25". Contest was between "N-C Vs.L-C." Next is 1919 between the same teams. Also of interest is smallest button reading "I'm Going/Are You? Howard Vs. Southern Nov. 22, 1930." These historically black colleges are located in Washington, DC and Baton Rouge, La. Group also includes extremely early pair of high school football buttons dated for 1915 and 1916. The colorful oval with "Mountain Lion" reference may be Penn State related. The "Ticket Taker" large button with serial number has a little surface wear in reflected light. This pictures a large but unidentified stadium. The only litho button in the group is at center of bottom row dated 1952 and issued for the "Chicago Polar Bears" making a trip titled "Notre Dame Special." Three very tiny paint rub marks. Last is "Michigan" button picturing two unidentified men and this is circa 1940s. With the  several small exceptions all items are NM displaying Mint. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
